Pass out food 9AM-1PM weekdays only at Mission Arvada

Purpose

Be an on-call volunteer to give non-perishable dinners to unhoused on cold weather activation days.

Duties

  • Hand food bags to the unhoused, at Mission Arvada / The Rising
  • Work side by side with case managers
  • Carry bagged food from storage to and from storage

Skills

  • No specific skills required

Requirements

  • Be available weekdays from 9AM-11AM an/or 11AM-1PM
  • Be available on fairly short notice, we usually get 48-72 hours advance notice of activation

Jeffco and Arvada sponsor hotel stays for the Unhoused on cold nights during winter. When the weather is forecast below 20 overnight, or below 30 with precip, the Cold Weather system is activated. The unhoused can pick up food bags at The Rising from 9AM to 1PM on the day of activation. We need 2-3 volunteers to work 9-11AM and 11AM-1PM to pass out bags and generally support the case workers.
